On Friday March 31, Elia System Operator NV/SA, the Belgian
transmission system operator, has successfully issued a new 10-year €
250 million bond off its € 3 billion EMTN programme (*). The settlement
date for the bond issue is expected to be 7 April 2017.
The transaction attracted 42 investors from 13 countries and highlights
once more Elia’s quality and attractiveness on the bond markets.
The re-offer spread of the transaction was set at 70bps over the 10 year
mid-swap rate, resulting in a coupon of 1.375%. The proceeds from the
bond issue will be used for general corporate purposes. The bonds will
be admitted for trading on Euronext Brussels.

With this bond offering Elia confirms its financial strategy for the
management of its debt through a mix of short-term, medium-term and
long-term debt. It will also allow Elia to pursue its contribution towards
the further opening of the Belgian and European electricity market and
the integration of energy generated from renewable sources.
